Here at Aston & Cote CE Primary School, we think it is incredibly important to involve children in making decisions that will make our school even better.

Two children from each class are elected to serve on the School Council which meets once each half term to discuss issues such as playtime rules, which charities we as a school should support and they even get to meet with the company that provides our school lunches to talk about new menu suggestions.

Our Year 6 House Captains are elected by the members of each house. They support the younger members of their houses at playtime and lead us in house competitions such as rounders and poetry.

The Year 6 Reading Ambassadors help to organise the school library including an “Author of the Month” display. They also run library sessions on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes.

Each year, four children are trained as Playground Pals. They organise games and activities for the younger children at lunchtime.
Our Eco Committee consists of representatives from each class. They meet regularly to think about ways that we can be more eco- friendly including our used battery collection service. This saw us collect well over 3000 used batteries which have now been sent for recycling.
Following concerns raised by the School Council about safety in the cloakrooms, we now have Cloakroom Monitors who check the tidiness of the cloakrooms each day and at the end of the week announce the tidiest class in collective worship.
